An intimate assemblage from an artist who employs light and common objects to construct dialogue between our everyday world and some realm beyond. In a sense this initiates an experience of transcendence for the viewer, though not without irony or humour. The plinth is a worn biscuit tin while its upheld and illuminated relics are plastic, seemingly mundane: a yellow cup upturned, oil and soap dispensers. The contrasting shapes and subtle variation in colour are enough to engage and, like a Joseph Cornell puzzle, we can extend these boundaries at our own leisure. This piece should sustain engagement over the long term. Auction estimate (NZ $7,000-$10,000)
